[CQ-Contest] IARU Question

My first time in this 'test. I would like to enter phone only. BUT: to 
improve my CW skills, May I also bang off a few CW QSOs but not include 
them in my score? (hence stay in the phone category) OR if I dabble in 
CW AT ALL, must I change To Mixed Mode category? 

How would I approach logging if I made a few CW but did not want them in 
my score (send in separtely as a check log?) Anyone with answers?? Thx 
for the bandwidth.
