[CQ-Contest] Contest recording solutions

Hello all!

Another solution to recording contest audio is the mini-disc.  I use
mini-disc for archiving long form programming at work (Clear Channel Radio,
Louisville).  "Component" style mini-disc recorders are available for under
$300 and, for me, the most attractive aspect of this media is that the discs
are very small and durable. The discs are available in record times up to 74
minutes in stereo. Recording in monaural doubles the per disc record time to
148 minutes (2 hours 48 minutes!)

Post contest the audio can be edited, highlights can be indexed and
programmed into a play sequence. The mini-disc has become my format of
choice for copying my record collection to a "portable" format and for
archiving everything from long form audio programming to commercial
production at work. I highly recommend it.

And no, I don't own a Sony dealership!

I have tried it and it works fine. The only problem is that when I start =
TR logger from under windows95 the RecAll Pro does not record the  audio =
while I am in TR window :( . That means I need one more computer with SB =
to be used as a dedicated recorder. Still it is so handy for judges in =
WRTC type contests. You can instantly find the qso in question because =
the program records time along with the audio.

Just received my error report for phone SS from N6TR.  I operated from 
W6GO and had about a 2.8% error rate on phone, up a bit from my 2.5% on 
CW.  I guess I will have to try harder, glad my CW error rate is so low, 
considering the crappy conditions.

An interesting note...Tree also included a new section in the error 
report, where OTHERs miscopied MY exchange.  They lost the QSO and I did 
not.  There were 191 such "other station errors" out of my 2057 raw QSO 
total.  And a VAST MAJORITY of those stations put down my section as 
"SCV" when in fact I am in "SV" (Sacramento Valley).  I have long 
suspected people don't know the difference and have tried to say things 
like "Sacramento Valley, that's "sugar victor"".  But that hasn't seemed 
to make the difference...and now that I know I don't get penalized for 
other's errors, I am probably just wasting my own time.

Be sure to pay attention to such things.  73 and thanks to the log 
checkers.  I look forward to seeing the other top-ten phone scores and 
their representative error rates.
