Friends,
I hope a brief explanation of how the Hot Picks came into being will being to
an end any ill feelings towards me or the National Contest Journal.
K5NZ originally came up with the idea and eagerly passed it to me. I thought
the spirit and intent of the idea sounded fun so I quickly send off email to
any and all contesters listed in my personal address book. I didn't get too
many replies so I did the next obvious thing and posted a message here where
the Best of the Best hang out. Plenty of time was allowed so everyone wishing
to participate could join in on the fun.
I next took each and every note I received and assembled them into the
categories I had earlier tossed out in the solicitation; adding a few others
recommended by others. I do not recall taking any editorial liberties with
the messages I received that deleted anyone from "making the list."
The comments in the Hot Picks are all from your fellow contesters -- only one
nomination was made by me. Anyone who feels he or she was left out was left
out by your fellow contesters -- not me.
Nearly every comment I have received to date has indicated the readers enjoyed
the fun and spirit of the effort. My apologizes to any and all who did not see
things that way.
As has always been the case, I have and always will work very hard to make the
content of the NCJ enjoyable and useful to my fellow contesters. Suggestion
that I have a personal agenda with the magazine other than that are unfounded
and inaccurate, friends.
Respectfully submitted for your consideration,
Dennis Motschenbacher K7BV
