Big Gun Journal’s First Millennial Y2K Global Contest/QSO Party

Purpose: Determine impact of Y2K on ham radio contesting.

When: 0000Z Dec. 31, 1999 to 2359Z Jan. 1, 2000

Where: 160 - 10 Meter Amateur Bands (no WARC bands); absolutely no
contest-free zones allowed

Modes: AM, CW, SSB, RTTY, and SSTV only

Exchange: Operator age and logging computer processor speed.  If no PC
used for logging, then processor speed = 00

Basic Rules:  Contact as many stations as possible during first 24 hours
(0000Z - 2359Z, 12/31/1999).  Make only duplicate contacts with as many
of the same stations during the second 24 hour period (0000Z - 2359Z,
1/1/2000).  Only one Y2K dupe multiplier per station worked.  No
cross-band contacts allowed.

Points: In-country QSO = 1 point
	DX QSO = 2 points

Multipliers:	DX countries = 1 each
		Y2K Duplicate QSO = 2 each
		Receive exchange 20-00 = 3 each (20 yr. old with no PC!)

Scoring:	Total QSO points X total multipliers + total Bonus Points =
Final Score

	Bonus points - (pictures/news article copy required)
	use of CFA and/or Fractal antennas = 100	
	loss of electrical power from utility company due to Y2K problem = 100
	your station/antennas destroyed by falling airplane due to Y2K problem =
1000 
	station worked is at bearing of "True North" +/- 5 degrees = 10 (for
each station) 

Operator Categories: Single operators only, unassisted

Power Categories: Only one - unlimited

Awards: Highest score from each country will receive certificate.  Top
ten highest scores will receive plaque.  All awards are guaranteed
delivery prior to the next contest - Y3K on December 31, 2999.

Reporting:  Send logs and summary sheet via e-mail prior to 0000Z Jan. 3,
2000 to BGJ-Y2K at you.gotta.b.kidn.com.
