I believe the correct answer is that unless you are REQUIRED to sign portable to
designate a different CQ country for the contest, such as KL2A/WW6 or G3ABC/WI3,
you are not supposed to use a portable designator.

This brings up a question that I have had for some time. Since
I am a "W4" in California does my prefix (for WPX purposes)
automatically become "W6" (i.e. I must sign W4EF/6) or can
I pick an exotic W6 prefix like W4EF/WX6.

Mike, W4EF/WX6??
