[CQ-Contest] Early CT Use

Does anyone happen to recall about when K1EA's CT logging software first 
became available to the general contest community ?

My earliest .BIN file is dated 1989 but I'm pretty certain we were using it 
before then.   

Question came up the other day and I haven't been able to track it down. I 
didn't find any ads or references in my '87 NCJs.
