If you change amateur radio contesting sufficiently, by integrating
it with the internet or otherwise removing all limits, it may still
be competitive - but it won't be amateur radio.

It's a bit like putting engines in sailboats to make them go faster.
You'll end up with powerboat racing instead of yacht racing.

Hi Paul,

I've never raced yachts or powerboats. But it strikes me as analogous to QRP
single radio vs. SO2R HP. And, after all, RF makes the last link. It might
be the best thing for VHF contesting since sliced bread.

UNLIMITED could be a hoola-hoop or a frisbee, or it could be a bust. Its an
interesting option for guys who like to push the envelope. Talk about ways
to get new internet blood into contesting!

Just imagine, WWW.RADIOSOUL.NET with real-time chat allowing you to taunt
your competition as the instantaneous scoring shows you in the lead thanks
to great propagation from your exclusive FW and ZA stations. It would even
eliminate the East Coast advantage. I guess it will never be implemented.
