The WRTC, held every four years, has all the right "stuff"
to be valuable. Possibly clubs with the resources could
sponsor, during the off years, "IARU invitational". For
example, a senior invitational competition, or a single
op invitational. Keeping the basic WRTC premise that
the competitors each have a level/even playing ground.

One "invitational" that might have merit is a BEST SCORE
competition. The club could invite 25 or so contesters from
around the world and give them 25 equal sites/antennas/calls,
maybe at sea? The rules would be simple. The person with
the most points times Mults wins. Have no rules that would
slow the action down. Bust a Q, lose a Q. Mults for both CW
and phone which would require passing, etc.

One thing for sure, having WRTC type competition running
during the IARU is interesting and made this contest fun to
operate.
