Hello,

I'd like to remind you that the RSGB's most popular contest, the Islands on
the Air Contest, takes place on 29/30 July from 1200Z till 1200Z.

The object of the contest is to promote contacts between stations in
qualifying Island groups and the rest of the world and to encourage
expeditions to IOTA Islands. Many IOTA Islands are very accessible and it is
relatively easy for small groups of amateurs or individuals to mount Island
expeditions for the contest.

Exchange - report, serial, and IOTA reference (if appropriate)

 Bands:  3.5 -> 28 MHz

 Categories:

Island Single Op 12 Hr (Mixed, Phone or CW)
Island Single Op 24 Hr (Mixed, Phone or CW)
World Single Op 12 Hr (Mixed, Phone or CW)
World Single Op 24 Hr (Mixed, Phone or CW)
Island Multi Op (mixed mode only)

There is no world multi-op section.

Sections: IOTA Island permanent station, IOTA Island DXpedition, IOTA
Island 100w DXpedition, World, SWL.

You can find the full rules on the RSGB HF Contests' Committee website at
http://www.g4tsh.demon.co.uk/HFCC/Rules-2000/iota.htm

The contest in the last few years has attracted around 1000 entrants, the
leaders making around 3000 QSOs in the 24 hours. The increased activity
has also meant it is possible to work the 100 different IOTA references
needed for the basic award in a single weekend. See
http://www.rsgbiota.org for more details.

Also in the separate IOTA Millenium award scheme many European islands
count for premium points in July which will aid chasing of the certificates
available. See http://www.cdxc.org.uk/iota2000.htm for more details here.

Entrants may wish to know that a purpose written IOTA Contest logging
program, which produces a correctly scored and formatted log, is available
as freeware. This is SDI (Super Duper for IOTA) by Paul EI5DI - it can be
downloaded from EI5DI's website at www.ei5di.com

Please send in any photographs and stories you have from your IOTA contest
activities with your contest entry.
