[CQ-Contest] Icom Transceivers/Heil mic elements

Hello to all...
               I currently own an Icom 765 HF rig and use a Heil HM-10
desk mic with it.  I remember seeing an article in CQ a while ago
about doing a resistor mod to increase the audio gain when using Heil
mic elements. Has anyone tried this mod and did it make a noticable
difference?? Any feedback would be helpful as I am considering
attempting this mod. Thank-you
