It's pretty clear that the slope of the first 12 hours is very different 
from the last 18. Even if we figure in off time, it's still clear that 
things tend to slow down in the last hours.

The rules of SS pretty much dictate a slowdown over time. After all, 
there are a limited number of stations to work, and the more you work, 
you slightly reduce the possibility of finding another station to work.

That's part of the character and strategy of SS.
