I think this points out a significant fact.

N2NC is a great operator.  N2NT's station is pretty good too, but the
operator is the focus here.

Doing well in SS from the Northeast is a whole lot harder than from
other areas.  This is mostly due to the population centers that
produce the most qsos being "too close" to the Northeast.  This
prevents a station there from sitting on one frequency on 10 meters
for the first 6 hours of SS and just running stations as you may find
occuring from a station in the Southwest for example.

SO2R is mandatory, and lots and lots of bandchanges take place in
order to maintain rate.  Working 40m effectively has a lot to do with
it too.

Bottom line, the secret to doing well is not hidden in the station
design, it's the operator and his abilities.
