I will for sure stay in the sail category.
But it is a shame many of us have to battle with sails with engines under
them, without even knowing it (sometimes).
By the way what is the maximun power in contries other than Italy. PJ for
example?
Is the maximun power in UA 10 Kw or so, in DL 5K, in LU 10 K, etc. Don't
crucify the Italians only.
Is the maximun power in W more than 1.5 K. I've seen pictures of 3+K
amplifiers in U.S. stations.
If packet is allowed to single ops, that does not mean everyone must use
packet. Those, like myself, who don't like packet, will keep contesting the
old fashioned way, some times even with pen and paper.
The only thing about this thing is very simply: we will have stoped one way
of cheating. That is all.
Of there are other problems. Let's look at them after solving one first.

Try this during a contest:
Pick a station whose antennas you know well.
Calculate the antenna system gain.
Calculate your antenna system gain.
Consider the best propagation conditions possible.
Calculate path attenuation.
Do the pertaining calculations.

You'll be amazed at how much some antennas gain specially on 40 and 20 mts.
:-)

*Yes, but when sails were replaced by engines, some people
*preferred to stay
*and compete in the SAILS category, some moved to engines category. Please
*don't force your opinions on those who prefer to stay with sails and
*demonstrate their ability in that category. If you like to compete in
*category with engines, we have those, compete there and be happy.
*We will be
*happy with "outdated" category which means if you are SINGLE - you
*are alone
*(and your gadgets). If you want to operate with half of the world's
*assistance, then go assisted. Just don't try to call sail engine,
*or single -
*many operators (via anything).
*America's Cup is done by using sails in the days of rocket engines, and
*nobody is laughing at them, they get great admiration.
*You have assisted category, use it. Leave SINGLEs alone.
*
*Now if we can discuss the power rule: how is it that Italian 300W
*means many
*kilowatts, contesters sign the declaration that they obeyed rules
*while they
*exceeded their regulations, and they even manage to show up in the record
*tables. Can you tell us about IG9/IV3TAN 80 and 160m operation? Or is the
*power rule outdated?
