CAMPUS CLUBS READY FOR 2000 COLLEGIATE CHAMPIONSHIP

October 31, 2000 - College and University Amateur Radio Clubs across
the United States and Canada are preparing for the Seventh Annual North
American Collegiate Amateur Radio Club Championship. The Collegiate
Championship is an Amateur Radio contest that promotes friendly rivalry and
competition between college and university Amateur Radio club stations.
This contest has been enormously succesful in recent years, and has become a
focal point for many campus clubs that has helped them develop better
club stations, better operating skills, encouraged members to upgrade,
and helped make lasting friendships through teamwork and competition.

Read all about the 1999 Collegiate Championship at the Contesting Online
web site: (http://www.contesting.com/articles/106) The excitement is
building for 2000, as many more college and university clubs aim to get in
on the fun!

The Collegiate Championship "piggybacks" on the annual ARRL November
Sweepstakes contest, so any Amateur Radio station in the Sweepstakes can
make contact with the Collegiate Championship participants. The first part
of the Collegiate Championship is this weekend: the CW portion is the
first weekend of November (4-5) and the Phone portion is the third weekend
of November (18-19). Campus clubs are encouraged to operate in the
Sweepstakes entry category of their choice. Most are expected to be
multi-single (M) entrants, and many will be using lower than average
"checks," reflecting the heritage of Amateur Radio on their university or
college campus. If you hear a check of 09, 11, 14, 21, or 23, odds are
you're hearing a college club station!

You can find out more about the Collegiate Championship, including the 2000
rules, news, scores and results, records, a list of Frequently Asked Questions,
photos, and more at the official Collegiate Championship web site:
