I completely agree with most of what Ward N0AX has to say, but :-

Yeah, like everyone in the US is a millionaire, lives on a cattle-ranch and
wears a checked shirt and a ten-gallon hat.

Come on, this is an international hobby, lets' not make such sweeping
generalisations, eh? Europe is a big place with huge contrasts in geography
and demographics.
