[CQ-Contest] Ionospheric heating

All the activity possible won't make contacts possible under certain
conditions. Remember WAE CW last August? I worked and worked to make about
135 contacts in 48 hours from GA to EU. There was a lot of activity by big
stations in this contest, but propagation conditions were terrible despite
being near the top of the cycle (or maybe because of being at the top of the
cycle?). 73, John, K4BAI.

A couple of interesting items for
contesters.

Regarding the next WRTC, is this URL for real?
There certainly hasn't been any fanfare that I've seen.

Secondly, regarding Miniprop (quoted from ARRL
Propagation Bulletin ARLP015):

"For some time now W6EL's MiniProp
program for propagation prediction
has been unavailable. This is the
program used to generate the
occasional path predictions shown in
this bulletin. I am extremely
happy to report that W6EL has just
released a new free version of
his software, this time for Windows, and
you can get it at
http://www.qsl.net/w6elprop/. It works
with all recent versions of
Windows, including 95, 98, ME, NT and
2000. Be sure to give this a
try, and send W6EL a note of thanks. It
is a great piece of software
for looking at seasonal, time of day,
frequency and solar activity
variables and their effects on HF
communications."

I just ran it, and it looks great!
