Gee, Icom has the same problem, sending out 8 volts on the Mic line, and we just stick a dc blocking cap in the line...
But for the folks who don't, and just crank up the mic gain, I think there's a problem with this. I think the Heil elements are dynamic, which means they're built like speakers, with a moving coil and a magnet. If you put DC on them, it shoves the coil all the way to the end of it's travel, and screws up the output and frequency response. Maybe I'm wrong on this...

Well, at one time Heil wired their mics for TT rigs. No problem...just pleg
