The phased array HF radar antenna at the Naval Research Lab was
occasionally used for amateur radio. It consisted of ten dipoles over ten
dipoles, all in ninety degree corner reflectors,  and it could be used from
ten to 20 meters.  The aperture was about 300 by 125 ft on the edge of a
100 ft high bluff overlooking the Chesapeake Bay.  At ten meters the
boresight gain over an isotrope was almost 30 dB.   73  jim w3cp
