I am told that to run a computer properly, you need a true sine wave output
inverter. Don't know if that's just urban legend, but it's often repeated on
the RV newsgroups. I used a Prosine 1000 watt inverter last year in my 5th
wheel while traveling around the US to power both a computer and a TS-690S and
it worked perfectly. Prosine is a higher-end unit (about $600) with true sine
wave output, and it has excellent voltage regulation and will shut off if input
voltage drops below a certain level, leaving you enough battery to start your
car, theoretically anyway. Never tested that feature, so beware.
