When I was young and poor, I just took the piece of #10 solid copper wire,
wrapped it around the headphone post, formed the wire out on the front of my
mouth, soldered penny to the end and glued (double sided sticky tape) the
mike element to it. Or you can use copper tubing and make really classy boom,
feed the wire through the tubing to the element. Put piece of foam headphone
cushions over the element to serve as a wind screen (to attenuate the heavy
breathing in the pileup :-) Nobody could tell the difference between pro and
your home brewed set.
