Some contesters may be athletes because of their activities away from contesting. Just because your a contester, doesn't make you an athlete. Take a look around the room at Visalia or your next multi-op and take note of  all the athletes ;)  I believe that most anyone can operate for 48 hrs if they have the desire and want it bad enough. 

Just because Mo Vaughn plays a professional sport, doesn't make him an athlete...
