[CQ-Contest] Headphones vs ear buds?

Hi all,
I was at Radio Shack this morning picking up some odds and 
ends, and one of the many holiday sales people there was pushing 
a number of items, including a $10 set of headphones which 
included a set of ear buds.
I picked them up, as in my experience the best way to avoiding 
painful ears is switching headphones every few hours. I never tried 
ear buds, and wonder if anyone has found them to be useful for 
contesting?
