I use them all the time as do some of the ops that do SO2R (or more) from
here. It really is the only way to manage many audio sources.  Most mixers
have a "pan" pot that will position the source in any percentage to any
ear, so you can use whatever works for you. I tend to prefer complete
isolation of the audio sources for most situations. My main mixer is a
Korg M8 but I have several of the older RadioShack models that also allow
that function and work fine. Look for a PAN or BALANCE feature. Recent
models mentioned here have been the Behringer 802 (?? not sure of spelling
or model # but should give you a clue).
