[CQ-Contest] The Future is Now

We always get told to "think outside the box" so I'm going to try that
for a minute here with a few of the ideas that this reflector has
been kicking around. =20

I love all the ideas about a contest cookbook and more - but why a book?
Why not just all kinds of information assembled and presented
via the internet?

We have so much more information available now about this hobby
than there was 20 years ago when I got my license. Back then
it was just magazines and newsletters.

Now I log onto the internet and search thru hundreds of web pages
that contain an amazing amount of information.

I just ran a search on Google for "ham radio" and "contesting" -=20
contesting.com was the first of an estimated 36,000 hits.

So the ingredients are already there - we just need topics and
people to write. We will have more info than anyone could imagine,
from all kinds of sources.

The recent battle with the ARRL over contest information in QST
really might be over already in one way. We don't wait for months =
anymore to
see our scores - we immediately put them on the net. =20

Think about it - we are ALREADY doing a better job than QST
and arrl.org in many ways.

Get off the pot. Think outside the box. How about Ford/N0FP's
idea of an "emergency contest." There have got to be other ideas.

Enough said.
