BULLETIN #4
8 July 2002

W1AW/5 Honor Roll Announced

Central Texas area contesters are gearing up for the 2002 IARU HF World
Championship the weekend of 13-14 July. Six area contest stations will
be signing W1AW/5, representing the United States of America as the ARRL
"Headquarters Station."

Organizers have announced that the W1AW/5 operation will create a "W1AW/5
Honor Roll" listing the callsign of every contest operation that works
W1AW/5 on all twelve band-modes, on all six CW bands, or on all six phone
bands. The Honor Roll will be featured prominently on the Central Texas
DX & Contest Club web site: http://www.ctdxcc.org/.

Those looking for the opportunity to work the W1AW portable operation
will have ample opportunity. Many stateside operators may even have better
luck on the low bands during the daylight hours, when the band is quieter
and there's less QRM. All of the W1AW/5 stations have survived the recent
heavy storms well, and were not affected by the flooding near the San
Antonio and New Braunfels areas. All systems are go, and W1AW/5 will be
on the air on all the bands and modes, for the entire twenty-four hours.

ARRL Headquarters will handle all QSL requests. QSL via W1AW: 225 Main
Street, Newington, CT 06111, USA. Please do not send QSL cards to the
W1AW/5 station owners or operators.

Please direct comments or questions about W1AW/5 in the 2002 IARU HF World
Championship to Richard King K5NA at k5na at texas.net. For more information
