[CQ-Contest] SS Rules

Hi,

Can anyone explain why the M/Os always seem to lag?

Let's for the sake of argument eliminate the "Let's Elmer the newbies"
efforts and look at Top 10 in the class. Surely in Top 10 there are serious
efforts like the WP2Z SS Phone team last year. Why does M/O not work?

Is it a distraction thing? Too many cooks? Is it a duplicate contact thing?
(I'm thinking that perhaps dupe screening takes longer since in single op
you've worked everyone and can more easily recognize a call that's been
worked before.) Is there, perhaps like in U, too much time spent chasing
mults instead of living by K0HB's maxim "mults happen?"

I'm interested in this mainly as research for my QST article on SS Phone
results.

Thanks, and 73,
kelly
