We've been using Ethernet at KC1XX for the last couple (few) years.  One 
advantage is that all computers go to a central hub, there is no daisy 
chain.  Only a computer which is temporarily off the network will miss a 
QSO -- it doesn't break the chain like a bad bulb in those old-fashioned 
string Christmas lights.  Plus the implications around serial ports is obvious.

Ethernet cards are throw-away items these days ($10 for a 10MB card).  Good 
luck finding a 2-serial port expansion card for that kind of money.
