The DX station is unlikely to change his call during the contest. What's
more likely is that someone using primitive a logging program MUST log the
portable prefix one way or the other (maybe different from what the DX is
sending) to make it work. Then they spot the callsign that their logging
program likes, rather than the one the DX station is sending, someone else
picks it up off packet, and the problem spreads.
Funny how packet keeps entering into these discussions!
