Misc comment ....or two ...
The QRP community has a number of regular activies / contests that
many could join in ... Don't let QRP get in your way ... it'sa contest
and people are on the air ... One in particular is the 2 hour sprint
every FIRST MONDAY from 7 to 9 PM Mountain (translate to other
time zones) 10 thru 80 meters (no WARC of course) ... There is
a lot of activity here .... Join the fun ... Visit the Adventure Radio
Society
for a ton of such activites throughout the year .. Fox Hunts, contests
etc ...
Another great way to keep the bands hopping is to get active in
CW traffic ... the National Traffic System has more for you to do
than you have time for ... so step up and learn a few things if
you haven't before ... or pick up where you left off and participate ...
Traffic work is the springboard for more contesters than you think+ACE-
Rag chews ... Out west we have the FIX +AEA- SIX meeting on 3723
(Six AM Mountain Local TIme) and the group is well seasoned
CW ops ... come join in+ACE- There are also several such groups
on the East Coast as well ... These groups are on the air because
they LIKE CW ... gitchur daily FIX and others will notice how much
your outlook on life has improved ...
There is no doubt that the mindset is becoming that CW is out
and therefore will be shunned come frequency expansion demands
of the Phoney boys ... (Same folks with mindsets that think BPL is
a viable end play ... You can't vote on the Laws of Physics +ACEAIQAh-)
There is also the issue that CW will die out only if we ... let the other
guy
do it+ACE- So take anyone who admits they can spell CW ... under your
Elmering and
bring them along ... Ain't gonna happen much otherwise ... The new guys
don't
have the foggiest what CW is all about ... except that it's old stuff and
not used
anymore ... Change their minds ...
CW is A1 ... the MUSIC MODE ... Real Hams Don't Talk ...
