I know all kinds of people who have decided, from time to time, not to work
people from certain countries.

It's almost always an absurd position to take, since amateurs do not
necessarily represent their government's policies, and you can't tell (nor
should you be able to) who agrees with whom.

The difference here, is not what EO6F did, but what he said.  ANNOUNCING
that you will not work amateurs from different countries, for political
reasons, is plainly unsportsmanlike.

If a U.S. Amateur had been calling "CQ no French" does anyone doubt what
kind of clamor would now be emanating from Europe?

Better to keep politics in the voting booths, newspapers, and your local
streets, where it belongs, and off of ham radio.
