You don't need all that for SO2R. Band filtering is nice, and might be 
quite desirable with certain antenna configurations. Particularly if you 
are running high power. But, with low power, good antenna separation and 
good receivers, the filtering isn't needed.

And there are an awful lot of contesters out there who don't even own a 
linear.
