Must differ with YT3T.

Rules say 'self spotting is reason for DQ'.
Self spotting is against the rules.
ERGO - self-spotting IS cheating.

There is a fine line between 'unsportsmanlike
conduct' and 'cheating'. Many times the term
'unsportsmanlike conduct' IS included in rules to
cover the times when the item being looked at is
in that 'GRAY AREA' that falls outside of a
defined cheating situation.

'Unsportsmanlike Conduct' is just like 'Good
Amateur Practice' in the USA Part 97 Amateur
Radio Regulations exists to cover those items
that are not defined in the rules as being
'cheating' (breaking the rules).

It provides a mechanism to deal with the 'gray
areas' and yet allows flexibility in working
within the rules.

But.. self-spotting IS cheating because it is
EXPLICITY prohibited by the rules.
