As a Novice (1959) I ran a pair of 6L6's (surplus metal version) in push-pull 
driven by a 6V6. Not a rock crushing rig by any means.  Later my DX-20 was a 
decent power increase.  The 6AG7 was a metal octal base power pentode.  It was 
designed as a
tv set vidio amp.  In class A the power output was 3 watts. The rated max 
anode voltage was 300V.  The max anode dissipation was 9 watts.
