Subject: [CQ-Contest] SS Question

> Can someone tell me why anyone would go outside the continental US/VE year
> after year to win SS ?

Because they can

> I truly don't understand it.

That's truly too bad

> I can see going and doing it for the fun of being DX one time but every
year?

Then don't go.

> And if it is for the winning aspect, the true competition is being first
from
continental US/VE ?

I guess we should just eliminate KP4, KL7, KH6, KP2, KH# from SS then.

> A win from DX is nothing but a hollow victory. Maybe I'm missing
something here?

You finally found the answer. Yes, you are missing something. You didn't
say, but
you obviously are referring to WP3R. That happens to be an exceptional
operator
at an exceptional location. DX doesn't have ANYthing to do with it. It
does have
particularly good propagation to most of the US/VE. You are a good op, find
a great
location and go head to head with Rich.

Also, some would argue that the true competition is being single op without
packet.
That's why they make chocolate and vanilla. Seems this issue comes up every
year,
but I notice that no one has picked up the gauntlet yet.
