What proprietary nature?  TrustedQSL is open source with a free
public license.  The use open standards for certs.  Anyone can
compete with them on even ground.  They can even compete with them
using ARRL provided certs.  The only thing they don't do is provide
CRL.  ARRL deserves a lot of credit for using open source licenses
when they could have charged big bucks for SDK.
