Earth since a storm in 1859. That storm caused telegraph wires to short out 
across North America and Europe."


This statement has since been debunked - the news media mistakenly 
interpreted a reference to the 1859 storm.  The current storm, or lack of 
it, was never anticipated by scientists to be severe.
