[CQ-Contest] LoTW Usage - Will you use it???

Greetings,

This would only make sense if you could upload your contest logs as
signed tQSL. The LoTW database must only have authenticated tQSLs in
it. Otherwise
they would be meaningless.

It is important to understand that a TrustedQSL is trusted. What does
that mean you ask.

I am glad you ask. ;-)

Being a TrustedQSL means that no matter what happens as long as the tQSL
is in tack and you have the owners cert anyone can validate and
authenticate that tQSL. There is no known way to attack them (except
Quantum Computers if they every work).

The password you enter to sign logs isn't the key that signs the tQSL.
It is a much longer and random string of bits. Your password only
protects those bits.

So you see there is a big win for everyone to store tQSLs. One of the
reasons that ARRL doesn't allow you to see or download others log is to
prevent trolling
for busted calls. This seems reasonable to me. I am not sure I like
it, but
I do understand the logic behind it.

hope this helps.
