Dear OMs:

A number of years ago K4OJ developed a really neat design for an operating
table, or rather the shelves above.  Of course the op. table is AWAY from
the wall to allow access to the area behind te desk.  Threaded rods go up
from the top of the 'desk' (supported on one side by a file cabinet), and
hold shelves at appropriate heights.  As gear is changed, etc., the threaded
rods allow you to change out the shelves to differing heights and shelf
depths.  This has been in effect for about 4 years and has proved workable.
