[CQ-Contest] FW: Nov SS op location

My initial thought was to tell him/her that you're sorry, but that this
request "seems odd", and that you are a firm believer in the principle that
once the contest is over, it is over, and that all information reported as
copied in the contest needs to legitimately have been copied in the contest,
so if they are are not sure what they copied, then they don't have a valid
contact, and should strike it from the log. (Of course, now this brings up a
curious question - should you strike it from your log? Because if you do,
you are also editing your log after the contest, and if you don't, you will
now lose the qso. I suppose since in this case you would be editing the log
to REDUCE your score instead of to INCREASE it, it's probably a legitimate
edit, but it might be debatable. It's probably moot, because you probably
already sent your log in. Though maybe you can replace it - not sure.)

But then the holiday spirit entered the room, and I conceived the following
slightly more generous response: "I'm sorry that you are having trouble
reading your log. Please fax or mail me the page showing our qso, along with
the previous page and the following page, and I will see if I can help you
interpret the smudge. This will (a) give you reasonably decent confidence
that the question is genuine, and (b) buy you some time on your decision.
Of course, if you receive the log and anything else besides the "smudge" was
miscopied, don't mention it to him/her.
