Oh my, this news hurts terribly.

Jim was obviously a beacon of energy and enthusiasm
from the day I met him at Dayton ten years ago.
I was a budding new contester, and he would point
at me and say "guiding light." Jim made me feel like
I belonged in those contest suites when I might have 
felt otherwise about myself. As the hard core all know,
Jim was always up until dawn on the 12th floor every year.

Online, Jim would crack me up with his sharp wit and
choice of words, both publicly and privately.  Never 
one to back down, it was always enlightening to discuss 
some of the tougher issues with Jim.  He had more enthusiasm 
in his little finger than I could muster with all of my being.

You will be a beacon in my contest soul forever Jim, and 
I will do my best to shine the guiding light as you did.
