[CQ-Contest] DX Participation in NAQP Contests

Someone please help me understand the purpose of this discussion. The
contest is called NORTH AMERICAN QSO Party. I think that means it's a North
American contest. It is not for Euro's or anyone outside North America. All
the multipliers are North American.
"" Non-North American countries, maritime mobiles and aeronautical mobiles
do not count as multipliers, but may be worked for QSO credit. ""
Many regions around the world have contests limited to their own areas. It's
OK to have a North American only contest.
The contest is basically a 10 hour contest. There is no time to
'dilly-dally' in huge pile-ups that would result by encouraging DX
participation. Judging by the scores posted on 3830 there plenty of guys on
both the left and right coast who didn't need any extra multipliers.
There are plenty of 'free-for-all' contest weekends let's keep NAQP as it
is.

Hi John,

I know you, and in all seriousness I'm sure that what follows was not at all
in your mind when you made your post, which, on the face of it is a good
idea, but ...

Encouraging EU participation in the NAQPs, which is what your suggestion
will mostly accomplish, mostly helps the East Coast during the early hours
of the contest when the West Coast has the advantage of running on the high
bands. Its tough enough being competitive on the left coast and this is one
contest that seems to favor the West coast.

Now if we could encourage participation from the Caribbean and Central
America that would be a different story. But power isn't an issue there.

Flame suit on, if necessary.
