It is easy to inadvertently leave the RIT control in some position & suddenly
one finds oneself listening off zero-beat.  One thing I have considered 
trying is
to switch to a fixed resistor instead of the pot & then drive the RIT from the
keyboard - then there's no need to make sure the knob is centered.  I really
haven't used TRlog's keyboard tuning capability much, but when lobbying
N6KR for RIT clear it was the fact the knob need not be used that made it
workable.

The problem here is that Chief Op Fumble Fingers hits the shift keys by
mistake a lot... I don't think there's a way to configure TRlog to not drive
the VFO around in S&P mode.
