Hello Listmembers.
Most of you probably don't know me. I'm a long time VHF contester. I
was told about this thread and joined the list today. When I floated a
similar idea over a month ago on the VHFContesting list I was summarily
met with the "sound of one hand clapping". :)
Even so...it seems that this list may have more a more visionary
membership so here I go...
Rather than a website, I envision a dashboard for each
participant...showing their relative position against other competitors
in several categories. Once every 10-minutes (or so) participants'
software uploads a cabrillo header to a central Internet server. It
parses out the information and sends back statistics (see below).
As an ice-braker (don't get wrapped up in the details...take this as a
concept) imagine a dashboard that could display data like this for each
participant...on their computer screen (and update it every 10-minutes
or so):
Category Category Division %-ile
[SO-LP] [Atlantic]
-------- -------- -------- -----
Score vs. All and All 81
Score vs. Same and All 93
Score vs. Same and Same 100
QSO's vs. All and All 78
QSO's vs. Same and All 89
QSO's vs. Same and Same 98
Mults vs. All and All 84
Mults vs. Same and All 96
Mults vs. Same and Same 100
-------- -------- -------- -----
Conceptually, this could be v-e-r-y cool and *highly* motivating. Does
anyone else think so, too? Is it worthy of fleshing out more?
Kind regards,
Ev Tupis, W2EV
