To go in the other direction...  what about VHF?  

I'm probably missing something, but I don't see anything in the SS rules
that prevents the use of amateur frequencies above 30MHz.  I definitely
recall seeing in an old SS writeup (admittedly from the 1950s!) where
someone took advantage of an Es opening to work a number of QSOs on 6
meters...
