[CQ-Contest] Contest Duration

Although I have been a shorter-duraction contest supporter for a long
time, I do not believe a part-time category is a good idea. There
are so many categories now, it would just dilute the box scores
further.
It is possible to place a decent score without a full-time effort.
For example, in the 2005 ARRL CW, I placed #3 in SOA with 34 hours of
op time (and I wasn't too far off from #2). How was that possible?
Most of my off time was during the least productive hours. For
example, the hours between EU sunrise and East Coast sunrise are good
for 10-20 QSOs/hour. To me, that's the ultimate drudgery and hardly
worth the effort. I sure enjoyed operating Sunday a lot more, being
well-rested, than when I've done full-time (actually, longest for me
has been 46 hours).
I still do support shorter contests, which would show more for
operating skill than simply endurance, but make it shorter for
everyone (perhaps not the multi-ops).
