[CQ-Contest] IC-746PRO -- evil incarnate or not?

Hi all,

Reviews of the 746PRO, even as late as two months ago, range from "best radio I've ever bought" (perhaps from someone coming out of an Eico 753) to "don't buy this radio if it's the last thing you don't do."

I'm curious to tap into the collective wisdom on CQ-Contest. Which is it? (Apparently the 756PRO is quite good.)

Or, perhaps more directly: is there any radio around the 746 price point that would encourage you to get out of a TS850?
