[CQ-Contest] How low will they go?

A few hours ago the band was full of SSB signals up to 7001. The 40m band is simply too narrow in Region 1 to accommodate the huge attendance of major SSB contests. That's the naked truth and until this root cause will be addressed, it's pointless to hope any band plan will be observed.

My 2 cents.

I was amazed just now to hear VY2** CQing on 7017.3. Surely this is too low for SSB, even by recent standards. I know it's a voluntary bandplan, but sheesh.
