Just a minor point but in the CU commentary, you state that "ve3kz used the
same .102". I can assure you that VE3KZ did not have any connection to
either packet or the internet to spot CU2's or receive spots. I'm still
strictly an old fashioned S&P and "try to find a CQ frequency" man!

from this, dl7bo wins the cheer leader award by making 42 of his 42 spots
for 9g5a. there are obviously several others who were only on the network
to spot specific stations though.
If you look at the stations that made large numbers of spots you can get an
idea of how often a station who was spotting anything without bias would
spot any given dx station. some variance is obviously possible due to
propagation from various spotters to different areas of the world, which
bands the spotters may have been on more, and how much they did s&p vs
running.
The spots from w3lpl are probably the best example, assuming they were
spotting whatever they heard at the highest point they didn't make more than
2% of their spots for any single station.

seems to be lots of these this time. in the past i have seen some software
problems that caused self spots, but these don't seem to follow that kind of
pattern. some are obviously stations putting in multiple spots for
themselves, others just one. i can't see how putting in one spot for
yourself would really help in a contest. even those putting in multiple
spots likely got lost in the huge volumne of other spots.

Single spotter spots.
This breaks down only the spots made by spotters that made only 1 spot in
the whole contest. out of the 37k spots made in the contest only 1350 spots
were made by calls that only made one spot. of these about 100 were vhf
spots, and another 100-150 were warc bands, cw, rtty, or other non contest
stuff.
The columns below are: dx call, total spots they got in the contest, total
single spotter spots, % of their spots that were single spotter spots, the
count of single spotter spots from dxsummit, and the % from dxsummit

now look at the relatively rare stations spotted like 5u7jb or 3v5a, the low
percentage of single spotter spots are likely from dx hunters who were just
out looking for new countries, worked them and turned off their radios.
low spot totals with high percentages for relatively common stations can
point to suspicious spotting activity.

ok, lets see if this makes any sense.
cu2cr used .102, .66, and .124 ip addresses, but cu2pm also used .102 and
.124.
dxcc also used .102 and .124 that were used by both cu2cr and cu2pm.
ve3kz used the same .102, but the other calls used .124.
the only unique one is cu2af who spotted cu2cr so lets ignore that one even
though it came from the same isp.
it would look like whoever was spotting as cu2cr, cu2pm, va2am, ve2ef, and
wa4tt liked cu2t, but didn't like cu2b or cu2a.

cu2cr spotting cu2t and also being spotted by cu2pm from the same ip.
and all with very similar spot comments, all caps in only a couple different
formats.
interesting comment that cu2t op is cu2af, who also put in spots for cu2cr.
All too confusing, and my eyes are starting to cross from looking at all
those cu2 calls spotting each other so it must be time to quit.
