Thanks to Mike (K1MK) who wrote...
The ITU regs specify the maximum length of call signs
assigned to stations in the amateur service to be
seven characters. At WRC-03 an exception was added:
"On special occasions, for temporary use,
administrations
may authorize use of call signs with more...
characters..."
It helped me to better understand the wide variety of
answers that I got, within the context of the inqiry
(I specifically excluded anything that would have a
"/").
Folks then responded with the following examples of
looooong callsigns they've encountered:
HA80IARU
TG0FRACAP
DQ80IARU
HF100KTL
OH9TURVA
TK9KBLRM
HG2004HUN
