Wow...I just sold my FT-1000MP MKV Field, with the INRAD roofing filter  
because, to my ears, the 746 handled contest condx, and IM better!  I've  used the 
746 to make around 50K contest QSO's since 2000, and used the MKV for  about 
5K contest Q's....really do prefer the 746.  But, I never have been a  great 
fan of Yaesu's...owned a 1000D and MKV, sold both.
